Sony, one of the first companies to introduce designer PCs for the home last year, now offers slim-design multimedia notebooks to match any home decor. The Sony PCG-705C and PCG-707C notebooks, featuring Intel's MMX technology, join the company's VAIO (Video Audio Integrated Operation) product family. They're built for multimedia consumer use, including built-in audio/visual capabilities, and can seamlessly integrate with USB speakers, all-in-one multifunction devices, multimedia displays and digital cameras. The notebooks measure 1.5 by 11.7 by 9.3 inches and weigh 5.3 pounds. The 705C has a 150MHz MMX processor, while the 707C has a 166MHz MMX processor. Both models include a removable 2.1GB hard disk, 256KB of level 2 pipeline-burst cache, a removable 14.5X CD-ROM drive, a 12.1-inch TFT LCD screen and a built-in 33.6/14.4 fax modem with speaker- phone. The 705C ships standard with 16MB SDRAM, and the 707C ships with 32MB SDRAM memory. The Sony VAIO notebooks integrate with all-in-one multifunction devices, USB speakers, multimedia displays and digital cameras. From $3,500
